What’s better than Oktoberfest yet lasts only one day? Porktoberfest!
No, that’s not a typo. Five Crowns in Corona del Mar (a member of the Lawry’s family of restaurants) is launching a new autumn tradition called Porktoberfest, a one-night-only event held on Thursday, October 25, from 7:00 pm to 10:00 pm.
Porktoberfest features a whole pig roasted in the back yard of Five Crowns, plus unique craft beers via a special collaboration with David Walker, co-founder of Firestone Walker Brewing. Walker will be on hand to answer questions regarding the various Firestone Walker brews, which for this event include Oaktoberfest, Double Barrel Ale (DBA), Pale 31, Union Jack, Double Jack, and – rumor has it – an appearance by the super rare Double DBA and Parabola.
The event includes four courses, a handful of beers, festive music, communal tables, family-style service, and games (Twister, etc).
“Porktoberfest is destined to become part of the lore of autumn for residents of Orange County and beyond,” says Five Crowns’ Executive Chef Greg Harrison. “We are ready to enjoy food, drink, and life. Eat well and be merry indeed!”
Price for Porktoberfest is $79 per person ($65 for designated drivers). For more information or reservations, call (949) 760-0331 or visit www.thefivecrowns.com. For information on David Walker or Firestone Walker Brewing, visit www.firestonebeer.com.
